Online Care Requires Messaging
Text Messaging our doctor has become a critical component of online care. When COVID lockdowns made in-person appointments more difficult, the adoption of online care accelerated.
Below is a step-by-step walkthrough of Kaiser's MyChart Messaging procedure.
NOTE: If the situation is urgent or an emergency, dial 911!
Step 1: Open the KP App or your network's MyChart App.

Step 2: Select the Messages tab at the bottom of the screen

Step 3: Select Go to Care Team InBox

Step 4: Select the name of the person under care. This is typically our own name but it could be the name of someone in our family or someone we are helping.

Step 5: Press Next

Step 6: To write a new message, press Send a message. If the new message is a follow-up to previous messages, find the conversation and press it instead.

Step 7: Press Ask a medical question for most situations.

Step 8: Press Non-Urgent Medical Question for most situations. NOTE: if the situation is an emergency, call 911.

Step 9: Select the doctor or care team member we would like to message

Step 10: Select the area below the Subject and type the name of the subject we want to discuss. Then select the area below Enter your message and type the message. Once the message is complete, press Send.
